The facts have lawyers. Our conclusions do not.
The Questionable Times is a satirical publication built around a simple rule: the boring factual layer must be traceable; the comic interpretation may then wander unsupervised into the sea.
What we publish
Stories use real events, public data or plainly observable facts as their starting point. Satirical claims are labelled by context and each article contains a Reality Check explaining the trick, fallacy or framing device.
What we do not do
We do not invent crimes, misconduct, quotations, medical claims or private facts about real people. Satire targets logic, institutions, trends and public events rather than manufacturing damaging allegations.
Who writes it
Every desk has a named correspondent, and you will find them all on the masthead. Our correspondents are fictional. The facts are not. Each story starts from a real, sourced event, and the source is linked at the foot of every article so you can check it yourself. The machinery behind it is described in how this paper is made.
If we get a fact wrong, tell us and we will correct it. The conclusions stay wrong on purpose.
What we know about you
Very little. There are no accounts, no trackers and no cookies of our own, and The Argument Room forgets everything after 30 minutes. The details, feature by feature, are on our privacy page.
The newsroom rule
THE EVENT IS REAL. THE FACTS ARE REAL. THE CONCLUSION HAS ESCAPED SUPERVISION.
