HOW THE DEPARTMENT KEEPS SCORE
Points are awarded for activity on file, as follows. The figures are published so that nobody can accuse the department of fairness behind closed doors.
| Activity | Points |
|---|---|
| Each Daily BS Test finished | 10 |
| Each correct answer | 2 |
| Each test with a Confidence Calibration of 80 or more | 5 |
| Each Credulity Meter vote, whichever way it went | 1 |
| Each conclusion filed for the editor | 3 |
| Each edition of your best streak | 3 |
Ranks are held from 60 points (Amateur Fact Checker), 250 points (Senior Nonsense Analyst), 750 points (Department of Unnecessary Research), 2,000 points (Certified Person On The Internet With An Opinion). Promotion is automatic and demotion does not exist, which puts the department ahead of most employers.
Achievements carry no points. They are their own reward, which is to say none. Topic achievements are awarded for stories on the subject, whichever edition they ran in, so every one of them can still be earned.
Your file is kept in this browser's storage and is never sent to us: clearing your browsing data clears the file. It could be edited by hand, which would say more about you than any score. The Daily BS Test, the Credulity Meter under every article and You Write the Conclusion all add to it.
